Fuel theft is unfortunately, always a potential risk and continues to cost businesses millions each year. By introducing security accessories including locks, fobs, key codes and the FuelWise telemetry fuel monitoring system, businesses can be alerted to irregular usage, indicating a theft or a spill, to provide fuel level visibility and complete peace of mind.
Diesel Defender is a liquid anti-theft marker dye for UK non-rebated fuel, also known as white diesel, road diesel or DERV. The liquid blue dye colours white diesel to produce a green fuel and acts as a powerful deterrent to thieves. Commercial Fuel Tank FAQs
What costs are involved in leasing or purchasing a tank, and what is covered?
As there are a range of requirements and variable costs involved in the lease or purchase of a tank, please fill out the enquiry form and our specialists will be in touch to discuss costs appropriate to your specification.
What is the standard lead time for a tank delivery?
When leasing a tank, we can usually deliver a tank to your site within 1-2 weeks of request, as long as the required paperwork has been completed.
For purchasing there are different requirements leading to slightly longer lead times. Plastic tanks, which range from 1,200L to 9,200L, are on average 2-3 weeks from purchase, while metal tanks, which range from 10,000L to 150,000L, have an average 20-week lead time due to being made to order.
What paperwork is required before a tank can be dispatched?
When leasing a tank from Certas Energy a tank site assessment form must be completed by the customer, and then reviewed by our environmental team, and both parties must sign a tank lease agreement before dispatch.
When ordering a metal tank for purchase the site assessment will be carried out once a payment has been confirmed from the indicative quote the tank will be put into production. For plastic tanks, there is no assessment needed.
What standard on site requirements are there for the tank?
For both purchasing or leasing a tank before it is delivered, there must be a level, concrete hardstanding for the tank to sit on. The tank will also require a 240V, 16AMP power supply (commando connection). You will need to source the cable to connect the power from your supply to the tank.
What happens once the tank is delivered to the site?
When a tank has been delivered, you will need to connect power to the tank (240V 16AMP commando connection). Once you confirm with us that power has been successfully connected to the tank, we can arrange the first fuel delivery. When we know the date for the first fuel delivery, we arrange the tank commission visit. Once the tank has been successfully commissioned, it will be ready to use.
Due to the size and requirements of the metal tanks, we have an engineer on site to assist with the installation of the tank, and a fuel delivery is made the same day to complete the commissioning of the tank.
How do you use the tank?
For smaller tanks you can start drawing fuel straight away by lifting the nozzle like you would at a petrol station.
To withdraw fuel from a larger tank, with telemetry, the site will need to use the fobs provided. A fob will need to be inserted into the allocated slot. The pump will register which fob has been inserted and will instruct the user when they can start fuelling. You can then start drawing fuel by lifting the nozzle like you would at a petrol station.
Is there a portal for me to view details about my fuel usage?
When leasing a tank, after it has been commissioned, we can provide you with access to view the tank data on the online portal.
For those who buy a tank with a fuel management system, yes, there is a portal to view details on fuel usage. For tanks without the fuel management system, this is not included.
What does the online portal allow customers to view?
For a tank lease or purchase with a fuel management system, you can run transaction reports that detail every fuel withdrawal made, including time, date, registration, fob number, odometer readings, data entered, site name, etc. These reports can be saved and automated to run on a schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly).
The customer will be able to view the latest gauge reading remotely and can reallocate fobs as required. Instructions can be sent to customers, including the main features, and a user manual can be accessed on the portal.
Will we monitor the tank fuel level?
When buying or leasing a tank from us most customers want us to monitor their fuel level and arrange their future deliveries for them. If you would like this service it can be set up once the tank has been commissioned, otherwise it will be up to you to monitor and place your subsequent orders. We can also set up low-level alerts so you can keep on top of your fuel deliveries.
