Order Kerosene SupplyWhat is kerosene used for?
Most commonly, kerosene heating oil (also known as paraffin, 28-second oil or kero) is used for industrial heating, commercial boilers and off-road machinery. The pale, yellow or clear fuel oil has a lower viscosity and lower freezing point than gas oil and is favoured for its clean-burning properties, efficiency and versatility when compared with alternatives, such as red diesel.
Our kerosene fuel is a hydrocarbon-based fuel derived from crude oil, which has been strictly refined to meet UK and European standards. The production process involves distillation, hydroprocessing and blending, in order for it to meet industry standards for home heating and industrial requirements.

How does kerosene heating oil work?
Kerosene heating oil is pumped from a storage tank to an oil-fired burner or furnace. Here, it is vapourised, mixed with air and ignited. The heat generated warms water for a number of products, including radiators, underfloor heating, or air for warm-air heating units.
It’s important to note that kerosene burns efficiently, producing heat with minimal sulphur emissions (which is the reason it’s so popular with off-grid homes).
Benefits include:
- Less than 0.1% Sulphur
- Reduced Sulphur emissions minimise soot build-up in boilers
- High hydrogen-to-carbon ratio when compared with heavier fuels like diesel or gas
- Kerosene heating oil fully combusts, producing mostly CO2 and water vapour rather than unburned hydrocarbons
Why is kerosene heating oil the fuel of choice for many companies?
Kerosene heating oil has become a solution for businesses because it combines performance, flexibility and safety in one reliable package. From year-round storage stability to efficiency, here’s why many organisations trust kerosene for their heating and power needs:
Versatility
Long storage life
High efficiency
Relatively high flash point
Low sulphur content

Common Uses of Kerosene Heating Oil
Kerosene provides heating for greenhouses, poultry farms and livestock housing to ensure temperatures are maintained and crops or animals are protected from colder weathers. It is also used for grain drying during harvest seasons.
Kerosene is an excellent solution for temporary heating solutions required for drying concrete, curing materials and maintaining a safe working environment during winter months on building sites.
In small boats and marine engines, kerosene is used as an alternative fuel source for heating or power generation in off-grid vessels.
Kerosene can be used in generators for power supply in off-grid areas. This helps to support businesses such as remote lodges, rural guesthouses and events companies.

A Guide to Scope 1-3 emissions for your fleet
Reducing your fleet’s carbon emissions is likely to be one of your top priorities for 2026. Carbon emissions are often emitted across a company’s entire operations. Yet, many businesses only focus on reducing the emissions they directly produce. To combat this, the terminology Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions was introduced by the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, highlighting how carbon emissions are emitted across a business’s entire value chain. In this guide, we’ve broken down why Scope 1, 2 and 3 […]
