Nobody likes to run out of domestic heating oil in the middle of a cold snap. But if you’re over 75 or considered vulnerable, it’s even more important to stay safe and warm. Inadequate heating during the colder months can result in significant challenges, including potential health issues and risks.

WHO CAN JOIN COLD WEATHER PRIORITY?
The Cold Weather Priority scheme is open to individuals who meet specific criteria. If you or someone you live with falls under any of the following categories, you are eligible to join:
Individuals Over 75 Years Old
The scheme recognises that older individuals are often more susceptible to the adverse effects of cold weather. As such, if you’re aged 75 or above, you are automatically eligible to join the scheme. This age criterion acknowledges the increased vulnerability and potential health risks faced by older individuals when temperatures drop.
Vulnerable People
Cold Weather Priority supports individuals who face vulnerability during cold weather. Vulnerability can result from factors such as health conditions, disabilities, or other circumstances that increase risks in colder temperatures.
