Avoid Hidden Heating Oil Costs

Have you noticed that sometimes, when you order heating oil, there are all of these extra costs that result in an inflated bill that the initial quote didn’t prepare you for? This is because certain online suppliers add charges to the total cost of your order. 

The worst part about this, is that it makes it particularly tricky to compare heating oil prices online. While their pence per litre costs may initially seem cheaper than their competitors, the final quote may tell a different story. 

1. Watch out for under volume fines:

Some providers have been known to change the cost per litre when customers estimate the amount of oil they need then don’t actually need that much. This is known as an under volume fine.

2. Watch out for service charges:

Some providers add a service charge to their orders. Essentially, this is a charge for using their website, and can be as high as £14.99.

3. Watch out for fines for not being able to access the tank:

Some customers have also indicated that they’re being charged for deliveries not being able to access the tank. So, if your tank is hard to access, make sure you order from a supplier that doesn’t add these fees on.

When you compare the heating oil prices charged by different suppliers, just make sure you’re comparing the total cost payable.
