As part of its commitment to supporting local communities across the UK, Certas Energy has donated £10,000 to Herbie Hedgehog Rescue, a non-profit local charity based in Reading.
Herbie Hedgehog Rescue is a crucial player in Berkshire’s wildlife community, rehabilitating and caring for sick and injured hedgehogs before releasing them back into the wild after a full recovery. The charity also takes in and hand rears abandoned hoglets until they can feed independently and are able to thrive in the wild on their own. As a home-run rescue, Herbie Hedgehog Rescue relies solely on donations to provide care, food, and supplies.
Certas Energy’s donation will help Herbie Hedgehog Rescue in purchasing new lifesaving equipment, investing in supplies to improve the quality of care for the hedgehogs, and obtaining vital necessities such as veterinary style cages and incubators.
Niki Holt, Head of Commercial at Certas Energy, said: “Our colleagues are passionate about local initiatives and have been actively volunteering with Herbie Hedgehog Rescue for several years.
“Certas Energy is delighted to support this worthy cause and we hope to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our local wildlife and promote the fantastic work of this small non-profit organisation. By working together with our colleagues and charities, we’re proud to be helping to make a real difference in local communities.”
Certas Energy recently formalised its long-standing approach to volunteering through the Hands in the Community initiative. As part of the dedicated volunteering programme, it has committed to investing 1% of profits to support community initiatives, as well as encouraging colleagues to have their say in which charities and good causes the company supports.
