At Certas Energy, we pride ourselves on our Safety F1rst Vision Zero culture. This approach doesn’t just apply to our physical health and safety, it applies to our mental health and safety too. Read more to find out how the Certas Energy Health and Wellbeing Champions are stepping it up to raise awareness of the importance of mental health. You can also find out how you can support them too.
Health and Wellbeing at Certas Energy
In 2019, Certas Energy initiated a group of volunteer colleagues to become our first Health and Wellbeing Champions. Since then the champions have achieved great things, supporting our vast network of colleagues across many different roles and work environments. Either by being a friendly and impartial ear or to signpost colleagues to our Employee Assistance Programme, Health Assured for further support where needed.
We’re really proud of our champions and despite a busy and challenging time within our industry, they are not letting anything hold them back from ensuring that we continue to drive our health and wellbeing agenda. In July, a group of 11 champions are going to take on a walking challenge to raise funds for mental health charity Mind.
The challenge will push them to the limits as they scale the Yorkshire Dales, some taking on 27k whilst the more seasoned walkers will complete a grueling 50k. As well as raising funds for an important mental health charity, the group will also endorse the positive power of walking and exercise.
Health and Wellbeing Champion and Logistics Administrator, Emily Wheeler explains why she is taking part:
“Doing something like this allows us to push ourselves physically while raising money for something we genuinely believe in and stand for every day. Personally I’ve done a few charity events for various charities and have wanted to do one for Mind as it’s one of the charities I advocate for the most because of the work they do”
Not a walk in the park
As part of their commitment to take part in the challenge the champions must raise a total of £4,015. Our champions are certainly not shy of a challenge and they know they need to ‘step it up’ to achieve their goal and earn that sponsorship!
If mental health is something you are passionate about and you would like to contribute, please support our walkers by donating via our Just Giving page here.
We thank everyone for their support and we urge you to keep the conversation going. Mental health affects us all and no-one needs to suffer alone. Thank you.
