Our Commitment

Through our dedicated corporate volunteering programme, Hands in the Community, each year, we commit to invest 1% of our profits to support community initiatives.

This enables our business, teams and communities to connect in a meaningful and sustainable way to create measurable social impact for the communities we live in and serve nationally.

How we help

We support local good causes and charities by working with Neighbourly, an award winning giving platform that connects businesses with local volunteering and giving opportunities that directly impact social issues that are most in need throughout the UK.

Volunteering our time and skills

We are excited to formalise our long-standing approach to volunteering through the Hands in the Community initiative in 2023. Building on our foundations of community service that within time, could potentially deliver up 10,000 volunteering hours per year working with Neighbourly.

Certas Energy colleagues have a say in the charities and good causes we support annually, with access to over 700 local not for profit organisations, we have many volunteering opportunities within local areas via the Neighbourly platform.

Our teams can identify and dedicate one day per year to supporting the causes closest to their heart, matching their own skills for maximum social impact. From supporting local young people organisations, environmental protection, community health and well-being programmes our national team of over 2000 colleagues have access to programmes that drive change and make a measurable social impact – whilst experiencing the well-being that volunteering can bring.

Giving something back

Whilst our team of volunteers commit their time and skills to local projects we also help through corporate giving.

Our Community Committee meet regularly and carefully coordinate and review three routes of giving.

Matched giving

We commit to supporting our colleagues charitable endeavours supporting investment in local not for profit organisations at a regional level.

So if we are raising funds by running, walking, skipping or sitting in a bath of beans for a good cause, Certas Energy colleagues can apply for match funding to the value of £500 on a fundraising event.

Grant funding

We continue to support local non-profits. Funding is open to registered charities to apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Every three months all applications are reviewed and selected by our Community Committee.

Charity of the Year

We support community projects in localities that help protect the environment, improve the health and well-being of our communities, support children and young people, tackle social deprivation and homelessness, support inclusion and diversity and improve the welfare of animals.
