HYDROTREATED VEGETABLE OIL FUEL (HVO)
Fuel a low carbon future
Getting you ready for the red diesel tax changes

Lower your business’ fuel-related net carbon emissions by up to 90% without any engine modification.

What is
HVO?

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a drop-in diesel alternative that offers a cleaner way to fuel your commercial fleets, on- and off-road – an instant reduction of CO2 emissions without the need for changes to engine infrastructure or machinery.

Manufactured from 100% renewable and sustainable waste, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a paraffinic drop-in fuel that can be used as a replacement for diesel, meeting EN15940 standards.

FAME, sulphur and fossil free, it is made using vegetable fats and oils. Unlike conventional biodiesel, hydrogen (rather than methanol) is used as a catalyst, which makes HVO cleaner burning and ensures a long shelf life.

Why use HVO instead of traditional diesel?

If your business is reliant on diesel, HVO provides a real opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 90%.

For large commercial fleets, this greener diesel alternative is ideal for on- and off-road vehicles across a range of industries including construction, agriculture, road and rail transport, haulage, marine and the public sector.

HVO means Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a paraffinic drop-in diesel alternative fuel, manufactured from 100% renewable and sustainable waste.

One of the cleanest fuels on the market, it can be used as a replacement for diesel and can lower fuel-related net carbon emissions by up to 90% without any engine modification.

FAME, sulphur and fossil free, it is made using vegetable fats and oils. Unlike conventional biodiesel, hydrogen (rather than methanol), is used as a catalyst, which makes HVO cleaner burning and ensures a longer shelf life.

An example of a paraffinic diesel is HVO. A paraffinic diesel is a synthetic diesel with near-zero sulphur and very low aromatics content, reducing unregulated emissions of toxic hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM).

HVO provides a real opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 90% without the need for changes to engine infrastructure or machinery.

  • HVO has a 10 year shelf life.
  • Low CFPP at -30 degrees
  • HVO fuel is completely biodegradable
  • It is a ‘clean’ fuel, free from fossils, FAME and is odourless.
  • HVO offers improved combustion than some diesel alternatives

HVO is suitable for on- and off-road vehicles, plant and machinery across a range of industries including construction, agriculture, road and rail transport, haulage, marine and the public sector.

If your business is reliant on diesel or you have a large commercial fleet, HVO provides a real opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 90%.

As the UK moves towards the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, the way we fuel businesses is changing.

Switching to a low emission diesel alternative, like HVO, to fuel fleets, provides an immediate impact for businesses working to a low emission future.

The alternative or low emission fuels pipeline is developing and HVO can be a part of the evolving solution for businesses taking a proactive step along the net zero carbon emission journey.
