Our interview process
What to expect
We are an equal opportunities employer and pride ourselves on a fair and transparent process. We welcome applications from everyone and if you require any reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process please let one of our recruiters know so we can help and advise.
Whatever the assessment process you will be given guidance from our Recruitment Team as to what to expect and prepare, we are always on hand to answer your questions.
Our Interviews
We have a dedicated recruitment team who manage the whole recruitment process and are on hand to help you through the process and answer any questions.
Once you have been selected for interview a member of the team will call you to arrange a suitable interview date and time and will advise what format the interview will take. For most roles this will take the form of a competency based interview. For driver roles there will also be a driving assessment which may be part of the first stage interview or we may invite you back for a second stage. Some of our sales and management roles may also include role plays, presentations and role specific tasks as part of the assessment.
Competency Based Interviews
A competency based interview is a great way for us to understand what you have done in the past, how you dealt with a situation in the past is a useful indicator of how you will deal with similar situations in the future. At first glance these interviews can sound complicated but all we need you to do is talk through a situation or example from the past. A good way to answer these questions is to use the STAR model:
A good way to prepare for interviews is to think of lots of examples from your previous roles which demonstrate the following:
• Team work
• Working safely
• Drive for results
• Customer Focus
• Timely decision making
• Meeting deadlines
• Personal Adaptability and Resilience
• Integrity and Ethics
Also, you should use the interview to ask questions about the role and company to make sure we are the right place for you! It’s a two way street!
Driving Assessment
For this we advise candidates to wear appropriate and comfortable clothing. You will go out on the road with one of our driver assessors to demonstrate your driving competence.
Right to Work
As part of the interview process we will ask you to bring a passport or birth certificate and national insurance card as proof of your right to work in the UK. Please bring this on the day and the interviewer will take a photocopy of your documentation.
