EASY BREEZY HEATING OIL DELIVERY

Whether you’re in Suffolk or Snowdonia, The Cairngorms or the Kent Downs, you can count on Certas Energy for a safe, reliable heating oil service.

Because when you choose the UK’s biggest heating oil supplier, you don’t just benefit from no hidden delivery charges. You’ll also get a warm, friendly service from our 2300 local experts, who genuinely care about the communities they live in.

Just follow these easy steps to get started:

Step 1 - create your account

Simply call your local team on 0345 600 4040 to open your account.

You’ll need a few basic details and billing information to hand. This is also a good time to tell us about any special delivery instructions. E.g. if you live in a hard to reach area.

STEP 2 - GET A QUOTE + PLACE YOUR ORDER

Once your account is set up, you’ll be ready to get a quote. You can do this over the phone, or via our online heating oil service.

You’ll need to register to order online, but it’s really quick and easy. You just need your account number and a few other details.

Next, choose whether you want standard or premium kerosene, and how much of it you need (between 500 and 5,000 litres).

We’ll then agree on a quote, and you can proceed to checkout. You can also speak to us to arrange a delivery date that suits you.

Step 3 – YOUR DELIVERY IS ON THE WAY

Once we’ve confirmed your order, we’ll do our best to have your heating oil with you by your chosen delivery date.

Whether you’re in England, Scotland or Wales, we can deliver to some of the tightest corners of the countryside. But occasionally, we may need to deliver your order in instalments, which will be invoiced and paid for separately.

Step 4 – TRACK YOUR ORDER

Even if you ordered over the phone, you can still use our website to track your order from depot to doorstep.

Find out how.

SANITISERS & SOCIAL DISTANCING: A COVID-19 UPDATE

It’s good to be on the safe side. That’s why we’ve put a range of measures in place to help everyone stay protected during heating oil deliveries.

You can learn more about our 6-step safety process by watching this video. Or take a look at our COVID-19 FAQs.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU ORDER HEATING OIL?

1,000 litres should last for up to one year. However, this will depend on things like:

• The size of your home
• How often you turn the heating on
• The efficiency of your boiler

Every heating oil tank should be fitted with a gauge that measures how much oil is left in the tank. Keep an eye on it, and you should be able to see how much you’re using, and work out how often you need a top up.

We recommend that you leave your tank at a maximum of 80-90% capacity to prevent overflow.

HOW LONG DO DELIVERIES TAKE?

This depends on your chosen delivery date. Simply pick the date that best suits you when you place your order.

Please note that sometimes deliveries may be sent in stages, depending on how much fuel you order and the size of the tanker requested.

DO I NEED TO BE AT HOME FOR MY DELIVERY?

Generally, if your local driver has safe access to your tank then you don’t need to be at home.

However, if you’re concerned about potential access issues, let your local team know beforehand. If you do need to be at home, we’ll let you know on the day of delivery.

WHAT IF MY HOME IS TRICKY TO ACCESS?

• Is your home on a narrow lane?
• Does it have restricted access?
• Are there any obstacles on the way there, such as a weak or narrow bridge?
• Is there room for a tanker to park and manoeuvre nearby?

Our standard tankers have six wheels, are around eight meters in length, and can access most homes.

However, if your home (or surrounding roads) have any of the above features, you may need a smaller, four-wheel tanker instead. Just let us know and we can sort this out for you.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE MY TANK FIRST?

We always do a visual inspection before we fill your tank with heating oil, to make sure it’s safe and to help prevent expensive leaks.

To help prepare for your delivery, you can also do a few of these checks yourself:

• Making sure there’s a strong base to support your tank and its contents
• Checking for cracks and splits
• Making sure all gauges and alarms are working
• Removing any nearby obstacles that could prevent delivery
• Keeping vents and gauges protected from rainwater
• Turning off your boiler

Watch our handy video for hints and tips on checking your tank.

Why should you turn your boiler off before a heating oil delivery?

Did you know that leaving your boiler on during a delivery is a common cause of boiler breakdowns?
Fresh deliveries can stir up sediment water from the bottom of your tank, which can get sucked up into the pipe and cause clogging. That’s why you should leave your boiler off for a few hours after your delivery, to allow for contaminants to settle.

A word about our tanker hoses

Our tanker hoses are approximately 30 metres (100 feet) long. If your tank doesn’t accommodate for this, please let us know beforehand.
