UKIFDA Green Award

Certas Energy celebrates as proud winners at the UKIFDA Awards 2023

Certas Energy is delighted to announce being awarded two prestigious UKIFDA (UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association) Awards for 2023, with the industry recognising its sustainability efforts and dedicated employees.

Certas Energy had the honour of taking home the highly coveted UKIFDA Green Award 2023 at this year’s UKIFDA Show & Awards Dinner, which took place at the CBS Arena in Coventry on Wednesday May 10. The ceremony closed the UKIFDA 2023 Show and Conference, the leading event for the liquid fuels distribution industry in the UK.

The Green Award celebrates businesses that are working hard towards a decarbonised and greener future. Judges said that they were particularly impressed by Certas Energy’s demonstration of sustainable principles, standards and products, and mission to drive its green strategy across all parts of the business.

Steve Little, MD at Certas Energy said, “We are delighted to win this important accolade. It recognises our unwavering commitment to not only powering the energy transition, but actively engaging in the road to net zero. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is the golden thread that runs through our growth strategy, building on sustainable principles, standards and products and we are proud to lead by example and hopefully inspire others to do the same.”

Certas Energy has launched a number of sustainability-focused initiatives, to drive the company’s decarbonisation efforts and help customers kickstart their energy transition. This includes the launch of its low carbon, affordable energy brand Evolo, as well as Cynergise™, the new commercial energy transition offering, and also its work as part of the Future Ready Fuels Project, converting customer properties to HVO as a replacement for kerosene for off-grid home heating.

The company has reached a number of key milestones over the past year. A successful trial of HVO in its fleet has helped smash its 2025 carbon reduction target, and it also become the first in the UK to offer HVO fuel at HGV refuelling sites, as well as offering HVO delivery nationwide. Certas Energy was also awarded 4 stars by The ECO Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme and became a Recognised Fuel Supplier for its HVO under ZEMO’s Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme (RFAS).

Further to this, its ESG and Sustainability Committee has been established to articulate, develop, drive and monitor its ambitious sustainability strategy and ambitions.

The second winner of the night was Stephen Harris, a driver based at Certas Energy’s Devizes depot, who received the UKIFDA Driver of the Year Award 2023. Stephen was recognised for his valuable commitment to customers, even in challenging times.

Alex Wolfe, Regional Director at Certas Energy, said: “This is a great result for Stephen. When you hear about the sacrifices he made as a roamer driver during the Covid pandemic, including staying in hotels with closed facilities on his 50th birthday, you know that you have a truly remarkable employee within your ranks.”

Certas Energy’s Drem Depot was also applauded as finalist in the Depot of the Year category, with Drem being named as runner up.
