In 2016, we had the pleasure of welcoming two Sales Apprentices to our Sales Team in the South East – this was a great opportunity for the apprentices and Certas Energy as a whole.
Both Chloe and Ryan joined the team at the back end of 2016. During the interview process, they both showed real enthusiasm and determination to succeed in their Apprenticeship and their role here with Certas Energy.
They started with learning about the fuels industry and our business organisation, culture, core processes, management systems and our commitment to safety.
We found that the learning and working element was really beneficial as the questions being asked were both relevant to our industry and sales as a process. Many of the skills gained were from on the job training and helped them develop as commercial account managers.
Within a few months of joining they gained the basic principles of sales and we then gradually gave them a portfolio of customers and the skills to grow this organically through activity and planning. Ryan and Chloe then grew their negotiation skills and were able to flourish on this aspect of sales.
Throughout the year Ryan and Chloe have demonstrated that they understand many of the skills within business and sales through various channels, whether it is by achieving their individual targets (margin, out bound phone calls and/or customer visits).
Reflecting on the year we can see great accomplishments achieved not only by passing the Sales Apprenticeship but also growing as individuals, learning from fellow colleagues as well as their peers and assessors.
We have found an increase in motivation and team working as a result of engaging training sessions and learning materials when developing Chloe and Ryan’s skills. Both of them have brought in fresh ideas to the table when discussing various sales and system procedures.
We hope that they have enjoyed their experience here as much as we have enjoyed having them as part of our team and that they continue to be successful and progress within our company.
